Throttle Throbs Car Club

The Throttle Throbs Car Club (TTCC) was formed on October 23, 1997 at a meeting at the Shanghai restaurant in Lewisburg, WV. Twenty two attendees became members. The name Throttle Throbs Car Club was chosen and officers elected were Ron Ness, President; Sue and Joey Fuery, Co-Vice Presidents; Dorothy Puffenbarger, Secretary and Dona Osborne, Treasurer.

​The club decided to host four shows each year and to include all cars, trucks and motorcycles. All proceeds would be used to provide scholarships for the graduating seniors of Greenbrier East and Greenbrier West High schools. The scholarships were in memory of Tracy Neely, a 12 year old who lost her life to leukemia.

The first car show was held on May 16, 1998 and in May, 1999 the first two scholarships ($750) each were awarded to Brent Alderson of Greenbrier East High School and Bobby Allstock of Greenbrier West High School.

 

​On January 20, 2000 the club voted to provide its scholarships in honor of Greg Carter, a Greenbrier County fireman who lost his life in the line of duty. Also, every effort would be made to provide four $1000 scholarships per year when financing would permit. To date, scholarships totaling $77,000 have been awarded to graduating seniors of Greenbrier County high schools. The club plans to award an additional $4000 in scholarships in May, 2019.

​The success of the TTCC is due to all the participants who have entered their beautiful rides in our shows, businesses and individuals who have sponsored trophies or made donations, as well as the spectators who attend the shows. The TTCC currently consists of 19 members. These members generously give their time energy and monetary gifts to the club. They attend monthly meetings, work the car shows under good and adverse conditions, and donate and pay for all sold at the concessions tent. Some members also sponsor a trophy or make monetary donations to the scholarship fund.
